My weekly dose. You always come up with cool ideas for dealing with stress. The "examples" of humans we do not want to emulate, I believe, are more important than mentors. Good Vibes.
There seem to be quite a few substack writers working in academic or research posts who are being treated unfairly by senior colleagues. I find this surprising and disappointing.
In this case Deep, even if you weren't working as quickly as you should be, which I doubt, 'you're taking forever ' was not the way to approach the situation. I am glad that you stood up for yourself. Hopefully your supervisor has learnt something from this.
There is a lot to share. I'm afraid I cannot talk very openly. Many things I still find very unfair in academia, even in a different country. Job insecurity is real, and that is the very reason for this limited sharing.
I really appreciate your comment on it. I hope one day I'll be in a position to not just openly talk about real problems but also provide some solutions…
Love this. I loved how you expressed yourself. Sometimes it feels like am I too much for expressing myself, will they understand? I'm glad you just went ahead and did it because one will never know until they've tried. Lovely post as always Deep.
I had to work on this draft 4-5 times before publishing. At the last moment, I had a mind to delete the post a few minutes before its scheduled time. The first half took a lot of effort to write. I was worried if I was sounding like I was in complaining mode…
I agree so much with all this. Honestly, I find it hard to disconnect mentally, but my hobbies certainly help a lot. Books, piano and mountains..wonder what would i do without them and now this beautiful community on Substack. My quest is now hoping to make work even better atmp wise. You are a brave girl, <3. You can count on me :) anytime for a chat or anything else even if we connected on Substack:) recently.
It's so good to learn about your hobbies… thank you so much for sharing. Substack is surely a unique platform where you can make some genuine connections and learn a lot from others. It is always so good and encouraging to see you comment and interact with you…
